Why I’m Not Waiting for Followers to Build Income

A different way of starting

After spending time on the beach with my daughters and grandsons, watching tiny footprints form in the sand, something became very clear to me.

Those moments don’t wait.

They don’t pause until life slows down. They don’t reschedule for a more convenient time. And they don’t come back.

And for me, that changed the way I think about everything—including how I work, how I earn, and what I’m building.

The question I’ve been getting the most lately is simple: how are you actually going to make money if you don’t have the following?

And I understand why people ask that. For a long time, I thought the same thing. It seems like everywhere you look, people are building large audiences first and then figuring out how to monetize later. So it makes sense to assume that’s the only way it works.

But the more I’ve stepped into this new season of my life, the more I’ve realized something important.

I’m not building this the traditional way.

I’m not waiting until I have thousands of followers to begin. I’m not waiting until everything looks polished or proven from the outside. And I’m not waiting until I feel ready.

Because the truth is, I didn’t start this to build a following.

I started this to build a life.

A life where I have space. A life where I’m present. A life where I don’t miss the moments that matter because I’m too busy trying to keep up with something that was never designed for me in the first place.

And once I got honest about that, the question shifted.

It wasn’t how do I grow a following?

It became, how do I build income in a way that actually supports the life I want to live?

That question led me in a completely different direction.

I didn’t want another job. I wanted to understand how people were building income in a way that didn’t take them away from their life. Something that allowed space—not just financially, but emotionally and physically.

That’s when I started learning about affiliate marketing and digital products. Not in a rushed or overwhelming way, but in a way that felt aligned with the kind of life I’m creating—ways of earning that aren’t tied directly to trading hours for money.

I chose to learn through a program that teaches this step by step, because I didn’t want to guess my way through something this important. If you’re curious, I’ve linked it here so you can explore it for yourself.

Because for me, this isn’t about quick results.

It’s about building something that actually works long term. Something that can grow with me. Something that allows me to be present in my life while I’m creating it—not someday, but now.

And the more I’ve leaned into this approach, the more I’ve realized that a following isn’t the foundation.

Clarity is.

Direction is.

Understanding what you’re building—and why you’re building it—matters so much more than how many people are watching at the beginning.

Because the right people don’t come from forcing growth.

They come from building something real.

So no, I’m not waiting for followers to start building income.

I’m building the foundation first.

And I trust that the rest will follow.
